-- A Happy Customer
My name is John Stass. I and my team build furniture that is bench made one-at-a time right here in Maine. My pieces have an earthy character. They are honest and unpretentious, and integrate well with a wide variety of decors and motifs.
On September 1, 2000 I moved my workshop to the sixth floor of the historic Hill Mill. This space has housed various businesses for more than a century. In 2008, we doubled the size of our production space, and added a gallery showroom. I invite you to visit us at our workshop and to view a sampling of our pieces first hand. Please call toll-free for an appointment at 1-888-783-2969. My hours are flexible during the day, and I will be happy to meet with you in the evening or on weekends.
I now have excellent craftsmen working with me. We design and create our pieces and are currently expanding with a line of furniture for the home office. Our work is commissioned world-wide... often by a celebrity clientele.
Melissa Etheridge and Katahdin Studio Furniture
If you are a fan of Melissa Etheridge, you will enjoy this interview posted on YouTube. The interview was filmed in Melissa’s music room at her home, and you can see many of her guitars in the background displayed on our Guitar Wall Racks.
Other celebrities we have worked with include Andy Griffith (who aside from his own pieces, presented his custom Martin guitar to Brad Paisley on our guitar stand) and many others.

We are always happy to discuss our products with you! Please E-Mail john@katahdinstudio.com or call Toll Free 1-888-783-2969. If you are going to be in the Lewiston Maine area, please let us know and we would be glad to give you a tour of our facility.
DIRECTIONS TO HILL MILL:... From the Maine Turnpike take exit #80 onto Rt. 196 toward downtown Lewiston. Go approx. 2 miles to the downtown area. Take a left onto Chestnut Street. Cross a small concrete bridge and the mill will be on the left. Drive through the "hole in the wall" alleyway and continue to the second courtyard. You will see my sign on the main loading dock. Since you have made an appointment, I will meet you there and escort you to my sixth floor studio/workshop.
